हिन्दू पंचांग के अनुसार प्रत्येक वर्ष फाल्गुन मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की पूर्णिमा तिथि के दिन होली महापर्व को हर्षोल्लास के साथ मनाया जाता है। लेकिन होली के आठ दिन पहले यानि फाल्गुन मास के अष्टमी तिथि से होलाष्टक शुरू हो जाता है और इसका समापन पूर्णिमा तिथि को होलिका दहन के दिन होता है। शास्त्रों में बताया गया है कि होलाष्टक के इन आठ दिनों में कई प्रकार के मांगलिक कार्य जैसे- विवाह, मुंडन, उपनयन संस्कार इत्यादि पर रोक लग जाती है और होली पर्व से इन कार्यों को पुनः शुरू किया जाता है। लेकिन क्या आप जानते है होलाष्टक को क्यों माना जाता है अशुभ.
According to the Hindu calendar, every year on the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Phalgun month, Holi Mahaparva is celebrated with great enthusiasm. But Holashtak starts eight days before Holi i.e. Ashtami Tithi of Phalgun month and it ends on the day of Holika Dahan on Purnima Tithi. It has been told in the scriptures that during these eight days of Holashtak, many types of auspicious works like marriage, mundan, upnayan rites etc. are banned and these works are resumed from Holi festival.
